CALGARY — Separate road accidents in Calgary in the space of less than a day have killed four people and left one person in hospital.

Police say two Calgary men, both 18, died overnight when a speeding vehicle they were in went out of control and struck a pole near an intersection.

Earlier in the night, a woman died when a car she was driving slammed into a cable barrier on the city’s busy Deerfoot Trail.

Investigators believe the victim may have had a pre-existing medical condition.

A third overnight accident saw a driver suffer serious injuries after being ejected from a speeding car that went out of control, struck two other vehicles and hit a light standard.

The fourth fatality occurred Tuesday afternoon when a motorcyclist in his 40s died in a collision with a cube van in an industrial park.
