GRANDE PRAIRIE — An Alberta man has pleaded guilty to committing an indignity to the body of a 19-year-old woman.

Christopher Podruzny of Grande Prairie entered the plea Monday as his trial was about to get underway.

The 22-year-old man was arrested last June and charged in connection to the discovery of human remains near the city.

A 14-year-old girl, who cannot be named because she is a minor, was also arrested.

The remains were later identified as Alysa Zatelny who had been reported missing earlier that month, but details of the case are subject to a publication ban.

Podruzny will return to court July 14 at which time it’s expected the Crown and defence will argue whether he should serve a suggested 18-month sentence in or out of jail.
