Jeff Bauer opens Farmers Bonspiel with win

Defending champion Jeff Bauer opened the 2012 Red Deer Farmers Bonspiel on a positive note Monday, defeating Henry Rangen 6-1 at the Red Deer Curling Centre.

Defending champion Jeff Bauer opened the 2012 Red Deer Farmers Bonspiel on a positive note Monday, defeating Henry Rangen 6-1 at the Red Deer Curling Centre.

Other opening-day winners included Rob Purdie, the 2012 E-event winner. Meanwhile, for the first time ever the Farmerettes Bonspiel is being held in conjunction with the Farmers. The finals are set for 7 p.m. Friday, with the Farmers finals to go at 1 p.m. Saturday.
