Jets down Beaumont in Under-12 C ringette

The Red Deer Investors Group Jets came from behind to down the Beaumont Ring Rockers 12-8 in the final of the provincial U12 C ringette championships during the weekend.

BEAUMONT — The Red Deer Investors Group Jets came from behind to down the Beaumont Ring Rockers 12-8 in the final of the provincial U12 C ringette championships during the weekend.

The Jets trailed 6-5 until Sydney Isbister tied the game at 14:26 of the second period. Kaitlyn Glover put the Jets ahead to stay three minutes later.

Brooklyn Twidale and Isbister scored three times each while Glover and Catherine Sovdi had two goals apiece and Erin Musselman and Erica Greenshields added one each.

The Jets beat the Red Deer Wild 9-2 in the semifinal as Sovdi had five goals and Isbister and Twidale two each.

The Jets were 3-0 in pool play, beating the Bowview Sonic Boom 9-0, the St. Albert Sugar Storm 6-1 and the Ring Rockers 8-3.

Musselman was in goal in the opening game, recording the shutout, while Isbister, Sovdi and Stephanie Lucas had two goals each and Celine Liekiem, Grace Heidinger and Twidale added single goals.

Musselman, Liekiem, Haley Popowitch, Twidale, Glover and Sovdi scored against St. Albert while Liekiem had three goals, Twidale two and Lucas, Glover and Heidinger one each against Beaumont.

It’s the second year in a row a team from Red Deer has won the title.
