Brady Hoetmer’s second goal of the evening 42 seconds into the third period gave the visiting Okotoks Bisons a 4-3 Heritage Junior B Hockey League win over the Red Deer Vipers on Saturday.

Luke Mohns also tallied twice for the Bisons, with Justin Moir, J.D. Morrical and Matt Belich replying for the Vipers.

Red Deer netminder Jason Pohl stopped 32 shots, one more than Christian Chivilo in the Okotoks net.

The Vipers, who led 2-0 after one period before watching the visitors pull even at 3-3 heading into the final frame, were assessed 11 of 18 minor penalties.

•Elsewhere on Saturday, Kyle Maas sniped two goals to lead the host Blackfalds Wranglers to a 6-3 win over the Cochrane Generals. Also scoring for the Wranglers were Greg Gross, Jason Bell, Kurtis Ross and David Jantzie, while Blaine Amiotte, Landon Bergh and Brad Melnyk answered for the Gens.

Blackfalds netminder Kirk Williscroft made 25 saves as the Wranglers held a 39-28 advantage in shots.

The Wranglers continued along their winning path by burying the visiting Banff Academy Bears 14-1 on Sunday.

Ross, Maas and Brandon Regush each tallied twice for Blackfalds, who got singles from Ryan Stephens, David Jantzie, Riley Hansen, Bell, Bryce Veuger, Scott Kallis, Karson French and Scott Maetche. Williscroft made 18 saves for the Wranglers, who outshot the Bears 56-19.

Banff Academy was assessed eight of 14 minor penalties and three of six fighting majors.

In other weekend Heritage League games involving Central Alberta teams:

•The Stettler Lightning, with Clayton Herzog scoring twice and Adam McDavid, Robb David, Brett Ouellette and Orie Spearing also connecting, bombed Banff 6-2 on Saturday. Landon Schmidt made 33 saves for Stettler, which held a 44-35 edge in shots.

•The visiting Rimbey Rock fell 4-2 to the Coaldale Copperheads on Saturday, getting their goals from Justin Foley and Cale Walker. The Rock, who got a 33-save effort from Jordan Panasiuk, were outshot 37-25.

•The Three Hills Thrashers, with Blaine Hoppins sniping four goals and Scott Bell potting three, cruised past Banff Academy 11-1 on Friday. Shane Wagstaff tallied twice for the winners, who got additional goals from Mike Arvidson and Connor Ablett.

•In another Friday contest, the Ponoka Stampeders were defeated 9-2 by the Thunder in Airdrie, where Jordan Duthie and Klais Dewaal scored for the losers.
