The Canadian Country Music Association has named KG Country its Station of the Year for secondary markets.

The Red Deer broadcaster, which is owned by Newcap Radio and operates under the call letters CKGY-FM, was recognized at CCMA’s Gala Dinner Awards in Hamilton on Sunday. CJJR FM of Vancouver was selected Station of the Year for major markets.

KG Country also earned kudos for the work of Greg Shannon, Tera Lee Flaman and Al Redel — who host the station’s morning show. They were named the CCMA’s On-Air Personalities of the Year for secondary markets, an honour they’ve received the last three years.

“To have KG Country chosen the CCMA radio station of the year, for all of Canada, truly validates the exceptional hard work and dedication of the announcers and the entire staff,” said Hilary Montbourquette, the station’s general manager.

Montbourquette also praised the “work ethic, drive, determination and unwavering passion” of Shannon, Flaman and Redel.
