Scott Kinley will take a seat on Eckville town council after winning a byelection on Wednesday.

Kinley picked up 73 votes to defeat April Klippenstein, who had 21. The byelection was called after former councillor Matt Amesbury had to step down because of other work commitments.

Kinley will be sworn in and join the seven-person council at its next meeting on Jan. 9. He served previously as a town councillor but did not run in the last municipal election.
