Lacombe-based ISP bought by Calgary company

A Lacombe-based Internet service provider has been acquired by a Calgary company. Platinum Communications Corp. (TSX-V: PCS) has completed its previously announced purchase of 1082861 Alberta Ltd., which operated as AlbertaHighSpeed.

(TSX-V: PCS) has completed its previously announced purchase of 1082861 Alberta Ltd., which operated as AlbertaHighSpeed. The purchase price was $1.3 million. AlbertaHighSpeed provided wireless Internet service to residential and commercial customers in Central Alberta, with Blackfalds, Lacombe, Rimbey, Bentley and Ponoka among the communities served.

Platinum provides fixed wireless Internet and broadband services in Alberta. With the AlbertaHighSpeed acquisition, it serves more than 10,300 customers in over 180 communities — primarily in rural Alberta.
