A project to upgrade Lacombe’s storm water system will lead to the closure of 45th Street off Hwy 2A for almost a month.
Access to 45th Street from the highway will be closed from today until Nov. 15. The 45th Street access to Dairy Queen and the Lacombe Centre Mall will remain open.
Lacombe has undertaken a major project this year to boost the capacity of its storm water system after heavy rains led to flooding in recent years.
The latest round of work involves placing a 1.2-metre pipe under Hwy 2A and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks to a drainage ditch on the east side. It is expected to be completed by mid-November.
