Langkow to play

CALGARY — Centre Daymond Langkow is returning to the Flames lineup just in time to help Calgary make a desperate push for the playoffs. The club announced Thursday that the veteran forward will be on the ice when the Flames play the Blues in St. Louis on Friday. It will be Langkow’s first game since suffering a broken bone in his neck after being hit by teammate Ian White’s shot on March 21, 2010, in Minnesota. He missed the final 10 games of last season and all 78 games of Calgary’s current campaign. There had been fears Langkow’s injury would be career-ending. He suffered a setback last summer trying to prepare for training camp. The 34-year-old resumed skating with teammates about two weeks ago. The Flames are in a tie with Dallas in ninth place in the Western conference with 87 points, three points behind Chicago, who held the eighth and final playoff position.
