LETHBRIDGE — A man who was elected as a Lethbridge city council alderman has died before being sworn into the post.
Bob Babki, 68, died Saturday of a reported heart condition less than two weeks after he was elected.
He was to have been sworn in Monday afternoon.
It’s expected the city will call a byelection to fill the seat.
The mayor and other alderman were sworn in as planned and a moment of silence was held for Babki.
