It is wonderful that the Red Deer Museum is working to create a permanent exhibit depicting the history of our city. Red Deer is a beautiful municipality that we all can be proud of and it should be displayed for the rest of the world to see.
The timing would be perfect if the exhibit could open during Red Deer’s Centennial celebration in March 2013.
This special Red Deer showcase should be named The Michael Dawe Gallery. There is no person on earth that has done more to promote Red Deer and area than Dawe.
The knowledge this man possesses is incredible. Each week I rush out to get the paper, hungry to read the articles he has created. With each of his stories, it is like Red Deer’s past truly comes alive. His love for Red Deer is clearly evident and he shares that with us each time he puts pen to paper. I am proud to know him.
Red Deer owes a great debt to Michael Dawe and it would be fitting to name the gallery in his honor.
