EDMONTON — A murder trial in Edmonton has been shown graphic surveillance video of a shooting that took the life of a 23-year-old woman at a light-rail transit station.

Colton Ferguson, who is 21, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Heather Rae Thurier (THUHR’-ee-uhr) in May 2010.

The video was shown Tuesday during testimony from Thurier’s nephew, Jordan Arcand who, along with his cousin, was with the woman when she was fatally injured.

It shows Thurier and a man get into an apparent argument before he pulls out a long blunt object.

The two then exchange words before the object is allegedly pointed at Thurier before she falls to the floor.

A photo of what appears to be a shotgun has been entered by the Crown as evidence in the trial that’s expected to last for two weeks.
