Man arrested after woman confined, beaten

TABER — A southern Alberta man faces several charges after a woman was severely beaten in her home.

TABER — A southern Alberta man faces several charges after a woman was severely beaten in her home.

Police in Taber say that the 45-year-old woman showed up Sunday at the local hospital where she remains under treatment.

They say she had bruising to her legs, arms, hands and face and is believed to have been struck with an object and kicked repeatedly.

Officers who investigated discovered that she had been held in her home by someone who had broken in and assaulted her over a 12-hour period.

They say the assailant was someone she knew who was under a condition not to have any contact with her.

Charges against a 49-year-old man include aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, theft and break and enter.

The name of the accused is not being release.
