EDMONTON — A 21-year-old man who was believed to be from the Toronto area has become the focus of the latest murder investigation in Edmonton.

Police say the body of Abdulaziz Osman Isse was found Thursday morning on the grounds surrounding a west-end synagogue — the victim of an apparent shooting.

Karen Carlson, a police spokeswoman, says the body had been on the grounds for a short period of time before it was discovered.

Carlson says Isse is not known to Edmonton police and is not considered to be homeless.

She also says investigators have made no connection between the homicide and gangs, drugs, previous homicides in the city, or the synagogue.

An autopsy is scheduled.
