Man charged after horses, cows found dead

DRUMHELLER — An Alberta man is facing a criminal charge of animal cruelty.

Police and the Alberta SPCA searched a property at East Coulee on April 18 and found 12 dead cows and horses.

Another 140 horses and 200 head of cattle were in poor health and were seized and put under the care of a veterinarian.

Some animals are at a rural location near Brooks, while the rest remain at a livestock handling facility at Brooks.

John Barry Graham, 54, of Drumheller is charged with causing damage or injury to animals, disobeying a court order and common nuisance.

His first court appearance is June 17 in Drumheller provincial court.
