KANANASKIS — An Alberta man who died after hitting a tree while skiing in Kananaskis has been identified as an elected councillor with nearby Rocky View County.
Rick Butler, who was 55, crashed into the tree Monday afternoon at the Nakiska Mountain Resort.
He was conscious and talking shortly after the accident, but his condition worsened as he was transported by ambulance to a Calgary hospital.
He died in hospital Tuesday.
Butler was elected to the county last year.
