A 29-year-old Drayton Valley man was killed when his two-man all-terrain vehicle rolled on the weekend.

The single vehicle roll-over happened at about 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, west of Rimbey, on private land off Range Road 44.

Rimbey RCMP report that two men were riding a side-by-side utility-terrain vehicle when it rolled on pasture land. Although the two-seat ATV had a roll bar, one of the men was found dead at the scene.

Police and a collision analyst are still trying to piece together what happened. Sgt. Mark Groves of Rimbey RCMP said there are no signs of alcohol or drug use, or even sloped terrain where the roll-over happened.

Neither of the men were wearing helmets. Groves said it’s hard to know if a helmet would have prevented the death in this case. Police recommend wearing helmets whenever someone gets on a ATV.
