A Stettler man has been sentenced in relation to an assault and a firearm offence.
William Edwin Johnston, 57, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for assault and 30 days in jail for possessing a prohibited firearm in Stettler provincial court on Thursday, according to information provided by Alberta Justice.
Other charges of possession of stolen property and a separate assault charge were withdrawn.
The charges relate to an incident on June 8 when Stettler RCMP responded to a call at a residence in the 5000 block of 50 Ave. in Stettler after receiving the report of a disturbance. Johnston was arrested at the scene and police later gained a warrant to search the home.
