A former Red Deer resident who was the subject of a Canada-wide manhunt pleaded guilty this week to several driving-related charges.

Trevor Norman John Legge will serve another 11 months in jail and have his driver’s licence suspended for three years after being sentenced in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.

Legge, who among other things was charged with driving his pickup truck through a local elk farm with police in pursuit, pleaded guilty to a number of offences. These include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for a police officer, driving without insurance, and operating an irregular motor vehicle with a trailer.

Charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to stop at an intersection, and displaying an unauthorized vehicle licence plate were withdrawn.

Legge, 31, was slapped with a $2,800 fine and given two two-year jail sentences, to be served concurrently. According to an Alberta Justice spokesperson, he spent 13 months in pretrial custody, so will have to serve another 11 months in a federal penitentiary.
