CALGARY — A young woman alleged to have attacked a senior in July 2010 is now facing charges of manslaughter.

Wai Ho Tam, 79, died in March of head injuries sustained in the encounter.

Police allege that Marie Monique Lapratt, 29, approached Tam while he was sitting at a bus stop and knocked his ball cap off his head.

He picked his hat up and sat back down but Lapratt then approached him again, at which time he stood up to face her.

Police allege Lapratt pushed the man to the ground, where he hit his head on the sidewalk.

Lapratt fled the scene but a witness flagged down a passing police vehicle and she was arrested a short distance away.

Lapratt originally faced charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest but they were upgraded on Wednesday.
