Red Deer’s Nick Marchuk captured four bronze medals at the World Karate Championships in Cadiz, Spain.
Marchuk finished third in the traditional weapons, creative weapons, musical weapons and point sparring.
He defeated one of the top competitors from the United States 12-11 in overtime to earn a berth in the semifinal of the point sparring.
In his weapon divisions Marchuk was able to maintain his focus while completing against the best in the world.
Meanwhile teammate Michael Roe of Lacombe won bronze in the continuous sparring division.
