A Maskwacis woman who has admitted to stabbing another woman to death has been sentenced to 56 months in prison, minus 33 minus for the time she spent in custody awaiting trial.

A Maskwacis woman who has admitted to stabbing another woman to death has been sentenced to 56 months in prison, minus 33 minus for the time she spent in custody awaiting trial.

In October of 2014, Maskwacis RCMP were called to a local home to investigate a stabbing. The unnamed victim was rushed to hospital in Wetaskiwin, but died of her wounds.

A few days later, on Oct. 20, 2014, police arrested Charmaine Cheralee Louis-Crier, 37, on a charge of second-degree murder.

Louis-Crier pleaded guilty in Wetaskiwin provincial court early in July and was sentenced on Tuesday.

She has 33 months left to serve and has been prohibited from owning firearms.
