Chandler McDowell of Springbrook, who plays out of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, is among eight Canadians on the Canadian Junior Golf Association team to compete in the Stephen Ames Cup in Trinidad.
The event, a Ryder Cup style competition, begins Wednesday.
Heading into the tournament, Canada holds a 4-3 lead in the series after capturing the Cup last year in Calgary.
Competitors qualified for the team through the CJGA’s Nike Golf Junior Series, a total of 12 events, across Canada.
The 12-year-old McDowell will compete in the 15-and-under division.
