Alberta’s pre-eminent finger-style guitarist performs at the Hub on Ross next month.
Jim McLennan of Longview and special guest Justine Vandergrift of Red Deer take the stage on May 4. They will play original compositions, swing, ragtime, pop and blues arrangements from 7 to 9 p.m.
McLennan was a solo performer in the Western Canada acoustic music scene through the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was a contemporary of artists such as Bill Bourne and Connie Kaldor. He earned a reputation as a finger-style guitarist and arranger, specializing in coaxing piano and big band music out of a single acoustic guitar.
