Mediation concludes in Saskatchewan technical college contract dispute

Saskatchewan’s largest technical college and the union representing its workers have wrapped up mediation talks.

SASKATOON — Saskatchewan’s largest technical college and the union representing its workers have wrapped up mediation talks.

The mediator’s report is expected Friday when both sides are to meet again.

It’s the fourth time the two sides have tried mediation.

Hundreds of instructors and other staff at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology walked off the job last week to back contract demands.

But the Saskatchewan Government Employees Union agreed on the weekend to suspend the strike so both sides could meet with a mediator.

Students and staff at the college’s campuses in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw were back in class Monday.
