EDMONTON — A mediator’s recommendations for a contract settlement include no wage increase for Alberta’s nurses for the next two years.

Ted Hodges suggests a four per cent increase in the final year of a three-year contract.

Alberta Health Services has released some of the details of the mediator’s report and is urging its board of directors to approve it.

About 600 members of the United Nurses of Alberta are meeting to review the mediator’s proposals and decide whether to hold a ratification vote.

Both sides must advise the mediator of their decision by June 30.

A contract covering more than 24,000 registered nurses and psychiatric nurses expired March 31.

Alberta Health Services is responsible for planning and delivering the province’s health supports and services.
