LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — A memorial service is being held today for the pilot who died in a plane crash in northern Alberta.

Andrew Donald Fielding, 31, was killed when the twin-engine King Air 100 he was flying slammed into the ground as it approached the landing strip at Kirby Lake on Oct. 25.

Fielding was an employee of Calgary-based Kenn Borek Air.

Nine others on board the plane — seven BP Canada employees, a contractor and another crew member — survived the crash.

Transportation Safety Board investigators say it’s too early to determine what caused the crash, adding they’re still collecting information.

Fielding is survived by his twin brother, another brother and his parents.
