It was a walk to remember on June 21 as Central Albertans came out to support the work being done around Alzheimer’s research and care.

Over 100 locals turned up at the Sunnybrook Farm Museum for the Investors Group Memory Walk, an annual event that raises funds for the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.

Participants raised over $40,000 for the cause, an increase over past years.

The funds will go to the society to be used to raise awareness about the disease, for research, and for support and care programs for those affected and their families.

There were walks in six Alberta communities in 2014, with over $275,000 raised in total.
