Men posed as police, technicians in home invasions

Mounties are investigating two home invasions that allegedly involved people posing as police officers in one case.

PEACE RIVER — Mounties are investigating two home invasions that allegedly involved people posing as police officers in one case.

On Friday a couple reported to RCMP that two men came to their rural residence south of Peace River and told them they were gas service technicians investigating a gas leak in the area.

The men, described as Caucasian and wearing dark coveralls and white hard hats, left and the couple was not injured.

On March 29, an elderly couple near Grimshaw reported three males who came to their home said they were police officers.

They let the men in and the three left a short time later without taking anything or hurting the couple.

RCMP say it’s too early to link the two incidents.

Police say the males in the Peace River incident had a long-barreled weapon and a hand-gun with them.

The elderly couple near Grimshaw also reported that two of the males, also described as Caucasian, may have had a long barreled weapon and/or hand gun.

Police consider both incidents extremely serious and remind people to request the appropriate identification from anyone entering their property.

Mounties are also asking employers to report any missing uniforms.
