Midget AAA

Scott Feser scored twice and added an assist to lead the Red Deer Optimist Rebels to an 8-2 Alberta Midget Hockey League win over the Edmonton Knights of Columbus Pats Sunday at the Arena.

Tanner Lomsness, Nick Glackin, Logan Fisher, BJ Duffin, Jonathan Finnigan and Joel Topping also tallied for the Rebels. Topping also contributed three assists.

Rebels netminder Matt Zentner made 14 saves as the visitors were outshot 40-14.

The victory capped a successful weekend for the South Division leaders, who outshot the visiting UFA Bisons 52-13 Saturday en route to a 5-0 victory.

Brady Bakke, Fisher, Feser, Duffin and Scott Ferguson scored for Red Deer, while Dasan Sydora posted the shutout.

The Optimist Rebels close out their regular season schedule next Sunday with a 3 p.m. engagement with the visiting Lethbridge Pronghorns.


Major Bantam

Andrew Perry and Quentin Greenwood each had a goal and an assist for the Red Deer Rebels White in a 4-4 draw with the host Calgary Royals Sunday.

Chase Olsen and Luke Coleman also scored for the Rebels White, who got a 37-save outing from Branden Bilodeau.

The Rebels White were 4-2 losers to the visiting Airdrie Xtreme Saturday. Olsen and Mack Differenz potted the Red Deer goals and netminder Brody Dirk stopped 38 shots.

Meanwhile, the Rebels Black dropped an 8-2 decision to the visiting Royals. Layne Bensmiller and Parker Smyth supplied the Red Deer goals and Cole Sears made 30 saves in a losing cause.


Midget AA

The Red Deer Elks were 1-2 during a busy weekend, defeating the Cranbrook Ice 6-3 and falling 7-4 and 6-4 to the Sylvan Lake Lakers and Okotoks Oilers.

Spencer Yeats tallied twice in the Elks’ victory. Nicholas Keoghan, Conner Veroba, Brett Hoppus and Ian Mclellan also connected and goaltender Logan Muir faced 33 shots.

Keoghan, Jordy Potter, Conner Einhorn and Dustin Spearing scored against the Lakers, who got two goals from Bryce Boguski and singles courtesy of Ryker Leer, Dawson Young, Travis Mayan, Tyson Stange and Briggs Davis.

Brady Jewan made 49 saves for the Elks, who fired 27 shots at Lakers goalie Keith Idland.

Finding the range against Okotoks were Veroba, Yeats, Keoghan and Austin Reeves. Muir made 23 saves.

In other AA action, the Red Deer ProStitch Chiefs posted a 1-2 weekend record with a 3-2 win over visiting Cranbrook and 5-1 and 3-2 road losses to Lethbridge and the Innisfail Flyers.

Adam Ferguson, Jack Goranson and Derrek Morrell scored against Cranbrook, with Brady Nydokus getting the win in net.

Goranson notched the lone Red Deer goal at Lethbridge, where Nydokus and Nick Galenzoski shared goaltending duties, and Chris Rauckman and Kyle Moore scored at Innisfail and Galenzoski took the loss.


Peewee A Girls

Red Deer Sutter Fund defeated the Calgary Kaos 7-2.
