Minor hockey briefs – Nov. 14


Minor Midget AAA

The Red Deer Northstar Chiefs split a pair of 15-year-old league games on the road, beating the Calgary Blackhawks 4-0 Sunday and losing 3-2 to the Calgary Blazers Saturday.

Jayden Sittler made 38 saves in the shutout Sunday while Ryan Swier had two goals and Chase Thudium and Jaden Sveinson one each.

On Saturday, Swier and Andrew McLennan scored once each and goaltender Rylan Bardick made 14 saves.

Meanwhile the Red Deer IROC Chiefs edged the Calgary Stampeders 3-2 at the Arena Saturday and toed the Raiders 2-2 Sunday.

Tyler Chaves Leech, Justin Van Tetering and Dylan Houston scored once each for Red Deer against the Stamps. Joseph Desrosiers made 25 saves.

Adam Ternes and Ross Heidt scored for the Chiefs against the Raiders while Thomas Della Siega made 23 saves.

Midget AA

Red Deer Elks goalie Logan Muir made 33 saves in a 4-2 weekend loss to the Brooks Storm.

Scoring for the Elks were Kwyn Heibert and Brett Hoppus.

Meanwhile, the Red Deer Pro Stitch Chiefs drop a pair of road contests — 7-6 to the Wheatland Chiefs and 11-5 to the Calgary Blues.

Kane Weik, Adam Ferguson, Cole Visser, Chris Rauckman, Jack Goranson and Jaye Sutherland scored against Wheatand, while Brady Nydokus took the loss in net.

Goranson had a hat trick versus the Blues, with Weik and Sutherland also scoring and Rauckman collecting three assists. Nicholas Galenzoski was the losing goaltender.

Midget A Plus

Jordan Joynes sniped a pair of goals and contributed an assist to lead Red Deer Kings Energy past Sylvan Lake 8-1.

Also scoring for the winners were Neal Boisvert, Taylor Sincennes, Colton Levie, Dustin Paul, Tyson Crampain and Wyatt Weatherall. Daylen Renner replied for Sylvan Lake.

Bantam A

Justin Anderson scored twice as Red Deer Frontier Bus Lines edged the Hobbema Maskwacis Chiefs 5-4.

Carson Stuve, Jordan Muirhead and Bronson Spearing had the other Red Deer goals.

Frontier also fell 8-0 to the Ponoka Moose.
