Minor midget AAA

Jaden Sveinson and Mik Doell each scored twice and Chase Thudium added a goal as the Red Deer North Star Chiefs downed the St. Albert Flyers 5-2 in Sunday’s final of the Prospect Cup tournament at Chestermere.

Jayden Sittler made 34 saves for the Chiefs.

North Star advanced to the championship game with a 4-1 victory over the Calgary Blackhawks Saturday, getting two goals from Allan Pruss, singles from Chris Gerrie and Andrew McLennan and stellar goaltending from Sittler.

Matthew Thiessen fired a pair of goals as the Chiefs opened the tournament by defeating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 8-1. Also scoring for North Star were Doell, Sveinson, Logan Hermus, Michael Pruss, Allan Pruss and Andrew Nielsen, while winning goalie Rylan Bardick made 40 saves.


Midget AA

The Red Deer Pro-Stitch Chiefs won one of three starts at home during the weekend.

They lost 8-2 to the Calgary Rangers Friday, beat the Calgary Canucks 7-4 Saturday and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Foothills Bisons Sunday.

Chris Rauckman and Kyle Moore scored against the Rangers with Brady Nydokus and Nick Galenzoski sharing goaltending duties.

Derrick Morrell and Rauckman scored twice each against the Canucks with singles added by Alex Randell, Moore and Kyle Kapalka. Kane Weik had three assists with Galenzoski in goal.

Rauckman scored the lone goal Sunday with Galenzoski in net.


Major bantam

The Red Deer Rebels Black dropped a 10-2 decision to the Calgary Northstars in Calgary Sunday.

Jeff deWit and Logan Linnell scored the Red Deer goals. Red Deer was outshot 43-26.


Bantam AA

The Red Deer Ramada Chiefs edged the Foothills Bisons on Sunday to a win of 4-3.

Reid Sterling had two goals and Brady Park and Declan Johnston one each.
