VANCOUVER — A woman shot dead in her vehicle was a mother of four children, including a toddler who sat in the back seat of the luxury SUV while his mother was murdered.
Police Const. Lindsay Houghton said 38-year-old Thuy Yen Vu was shot multiple times in a quiet southeast Vancouver neighbourhood and that her three-year-old son was taken into government care.
“We’re working with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to return the child to the father and his siblings today,” he said Thursday, adding the woman’s oldest child is 17.
“We still think there were witnesses that haven’t come forward,” Houghton said of Wednesday afternoon’s attack on the woman who was also called Jenny.
Vu was not known to police and investigators are trying to determine her movements before she was gunned down while parked outside a home in her idling BMW.
The shooter got away in the first case as well.
