A motorcyclist was hospitalized in Red Deer on Tuesday after being rear-ended by a motorist in a construction zone.

Police are reminding all drivers to slow down and pay attention after a collision occurred at just after noon near the intersection of Taylor Drive and Oliver Street.

Road construction was underway with flag persons and pylons directing traffic. And most drivers, including the motorcyclist, had stopped as required.

But a driver of a truck did not brake. The larger vehicle collided with the rear of the motorcycle, pushing it into a vehicle in front.

The female motorcyclist from the Lacombe area was taken by ambulance to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police urge all motorists to be aware of special traffic requirements in construction zones and of motorcycles on roadways.
