Mounties ID bodies found near Millett

Mounties say the deaths of two people found on a rural property south of Edmonton were a murder-suicide.

MILLET — Mounties say the deaths of two people found on a rural property south of Edmonton were a murder-suicide.

RCMP say Corinne Nicole Sellhorn, 34, and Ronald Stuart Jones, 61, were found dead at a property near Millet on Sunday.

The medical examiner says Sellhorn’s death was a homicide, but police won’t release the cause of death of either person.

Police will only say that weapons were involved.

They say they cannot give any other information due to privacy concerns.

Garry Hirsekorn, who was charged with Jones for breaching hunting regulations, was surprised to hear of the news.

“Everybody (in the Métis community) is shocked . . . It’s just blown me right away.”

Jones and Hirsekorn took part in the “hunt for justice,” a campaign to recognize Métis constitutional hunting rights in southern Alberta.

Jones was charged in January 2008 after taking an antelope out of season near Suffield as part of that campaign.

Jones was also charged in December 2007 for killing a deer near the Cypress Hills.
