RCMP in southern Alberta are investigating a double homicide.

Mounties were called early Thursday to a home in Hanna, where a man told them he had killed two people.

Officers found the bodies of a man and a woman inside.

RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Patricia Neely said the 24-year-old suspect is believed to be a relative of one of the victims.

“So this wasn’t random,” she said. “There was a relationship.”

Neely said the man is in custody and co-operating with investigators. He does not yet face charges.

She said officers with the major crimes unit and forensic identification team continue to investigate.

Hanna is about 200 kilometres northeast of Calgary.
