Alberta Mounties say the death of a 21-month-old girl in foster care is an homicide.
Morinville RCMP are being assisted by investigators from RCMP Edmonton.
Family members told CTV Edmonton that the little girl had only been in foster care at a home in Morinville, north of Edmonton, for about two months.
The girl was rushed to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton on Monday and family say she died Wednesday.
Alberta Children and Youth Services Minister Yvonne Fritz has said an investigation is underway into the girl’s death.
