A trial opens in early May for a veteran Mountie who spent part of his career in Red Deer.

RCMP Sgt. Richard Graydon, 48, is accused of obstructing justice in relation to a civil trial that was being held in Edmonton in September 2010.

Graydon is accused of taking his notebook out of the courtroom after it had been admitted as evidence in the trial.

The case against him had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Edmonton today and Friday.

It has now been determined that the case will go to trial in Edmonton Court of Queen’s Bench on May 1 and 2.
