I stepped outside last night at 2 a.m. and all I could hear was the incessant beeping of backup alarms and blades scraping pavement.

This was music to my ears at this time of year.

I would like to thank all of you who are out making our streets safer. I know it seems like a thankless job, but the majority of us appreciate the hard work and long hours that you put in.

I only wish there were more of you manning more equipment, since winter seems to come every year, and city council is always taken by surprise.
