Paintings of voluptuous, anonymous Ladies will be showing at the Gallery on Main in Lacombe this month.
Artist Kathy Meaney did a series of paintings of rotund and curvaceous women cavorting in various natural settings.
“My Ladies came to me by accident as I took some ideas from my own sentimental journey,” said Meaney, who liked painting their voluptuous forms.
“As society dictates we must be a certain proportion, I say . . . we do not,” said Meaney, who believes her paintings carry that message.
“Women need to accept who they are . . . often I am thanked for that.”
Her Ladies of the Lake exhibit runs from July 12 to Aug. 1 at the gallery.
An opening reception will be held on July 12 from 5 to 9 p.m.
