N.B. man off to Memphis after winning Elvis impersonation contest

MONCTON, N.B. — A New Brunswick man has been crowned grand champion at the Collingwood Elvis Festival in Ontario.

Thane Dunn is coming home to the Moncton area with a cash prize and job offers from promoters.

More than 130 Elvis Presley impersonators and thousands of fans attended the weekend event.

Dunn will now move on to the Ultimate Tribute to Elvis, which will be held in Memphis, Tennessee next month.

He says he spent several years working to improve his act and turned it into a full-time job, regularly performing out of Moncton with his band, the Cadillac Kings.

For the contest Dunn put on his rhinestone-studded powder blue jumpsuit and performed You Gave Me a Mountain and My Boy, both “tear-jerkers” that he believes really struck a chord with the judges.
