EDMONTON — Alberta’s NDP says it’s time to return power to the people.

Party leader Brian Mason says a New Democrat government would re-regulate the electricity system to deliver stable, affordable prices to Albertans.

Mason says a decade of deregulation has resulted in roller-coaster prices that are edging higher and higher with no end in sight.

He says he’s received thousands of letters and power bills from Albertans demanding change.

Mason also promises to make power corporations pay for new transmission lines if his party is elected April 23.

The province recently approved two new major north-south power lines that will cost taxpayers billions of dollars despite concerns the power is not needed.
