Red Deer is encouraging neighbourhood power by bringing in public speaker Jim Diers from the University of Washington on Nov. 2.

Diers, the former director of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods, leads workshops on community development and organization.

He says neighbours can work together to mobilize and influence government and developers to help create caring, revitalized communities.

Diers will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gull Lake Room in the Red Deer Lodge.

Admission is $15 per person, payable by cash or cheque at the door.

Seating is limited. To register, call 403-342-8115.
