City of Red Deer employees Rose Siebeneich, Stephen Soucy and in the skid steer Dwight Johnston work to level out new shale in the infield of the main baseball diamond at Great Chief Park, Wednesday. After 38 years of use the shale had become as hard as rock in some places and caused drainage problems said facility operator Carl Sulyak The main field is the only one being renovated as the others in the park are newer and draining properly. The field should be ready for play again by Sept. 17 said Sulyak.
