EDMONTON — Police say charges are pending against the mother of a newborn baby that was left alone in an Edmonton hotel room.
A staff member at the west-end hotel says the woman, who was a guest, had left her infant son in the care of a babysitter.
Security staff became concerned when the sitter also left the hotel.
The baby — believed to be less than a week old — was in good condition when staff found him.
He was taken by paramedics to hospital for observation and his mother was directed to police after she phoned the hotel to talk to the babysitter.
The mother is in custody and is being questioned.
