HIGH RIVER — A new temporary neighbourhood built to help those who lost their homes to flooding in the Alberta town of High River is now allowing families to move in.
Several hundred people lost their homes in the flood in June and ended up residing at student residences in Calgary and Lethbridge.
The associate minister of Regional Recovery and Reconstruction, Rick Fraser, says up to 60 families have begun to move into the trailers in the Saddlebrook neighbourhood north of High River.
The additional 205 adults and children bring the total so far to more than 400.
It will have a capacity of 1,200 once complete.
Amenities at Saddlebrook include meals at three different restaurants, recreation and playground areas, housekeeping, and onsite medical support.
