Officials urging people to get shots as flu clinics reopen in Alberta

Flu clinics are set to reopen Monday in Alberta and the province’s deputy medical officer of health says there’s still demand for swine flu vaccinations.

CALGARY — Flu clinics are set to reopen Monday in Alberta and the province’s deputy medical officer of health says there’s still demand for swine flu vaccinations.

Provincial officials say about one million people in Alberta have been vaccinated so far.

Dr. Judy MacDonald says though health officials haven’t seen a lot of the virus showing up recently, she adds they still expect to see more of it.

She says if there is a third wave of the illness, it won’t be as widespread because so many people have received the shot.

Alberta Health Services will offer the shot at public clinics and they’ll also be available in doctors’ offices in the coming days.
