Olds College announced Thursday that a Calgary area rancher and businessman is its 2012 Partner of the Year.

Olds College announced Thursday that a Calgary area rancher and businessman is its 2012 Partner of the Year.

Jack Anderson, 84, donated $1 million to the college five years ago — the largest donation in the college’s 99-year history.

This year, Anderson donated his lifelong collection of 100 vintage vehicles, valued at $2 million. Next year, the college will host an auction 100 Cars and Trucks for Our 100th Year to celebrate the college’s centennial.

College board chair Barry Mehr said: “It is rare in giving and philanthropy that a donation is given without restrictions, even more rare, for it to happen twice.”

To be named partner of the year, the nominee must reflect the mission of the college and support its values and mandate. The College honours its Partner of the Year at its gala in March.
