One man dead, second man seriously injured in northern violence

Assaults at two separate locations in a northern Alberta town have left one man dead and another man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

LAC LA BICHE — Assaults at two separate locations in a northern Alberta town have left one man dead and another man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP at Lac La Biche say a 37-year-old male died after some kind of altercation in a back alley late Monday night.

They say there was a second altercation on a street in front of some homes that resulted in a man being airlifted to an Edmonton hospital.

Police believe he’s been placed in a medically induced coma.

A youth has been taken into custody but no charges have been laid and investigators don’t know if the incidents are connected.

Mounties say the men and the youth are known to them, but it’s not clear if they were known to each other.
